EVENT – The Global Pepper Team takes a visit to Almeria, Spain, to evaluate new crosses from the Spanish breeding program under the hot to cold slot. Promising varieties in the blocky, half long lamuyo, and lamuyo type were shortlisted to be sent to the Product Development teams across all markets.
The visit was led by Pepper Crop Breeding Lead Cathy Thome, Head of Marketing (USA) Michael McDaniel, and Greenhouse Pepper Breeder Francisco Javier Puyo. Special thanks to the entire team of United Genetics Spain for hosting the visit and for the warm hospitality.
EVENT – Following from the visit to Spain last week by the Solanaceae R&D team, Tomato Crop Breeding Lead Junji Kimbara led the Product Development team from Italy, Turkey, and MENA in evaluating new crosses from United Genetics specialty tomato program in Sicily, Italy. The focus on this year’s pipeline was in improving taste, color, and yield potential in the indeterminate cherry and mini plum segments. Joining the trip was Hayati Bat, CEO of United Genetics Turkey. A special thank you goes out to all our colleagues in Italy for the hard work and dedication in putting up this overwinter trial.
